Huntington Beach Says Goodbye to Beverly Richesson, Beloved Philanthropist and Volunteer
The loving community of Huntington Beach is mourning the loss of an extraordinary woman, Beverly Richesson, who left us on September 30, 2025, at the impressive age of 92. Beverly passed away peacefully in her sleep, side by side with her devoted husband, Roger Richesson, with whom she shared an incredible 69 years of marriage.
Born in 1933 in Carrollton, Missouri, Beverly was a shining light of kindness and compassion. Friends and family often described her as having a heart so big that it could embrace the world. Her strong Christian faith was the backbone of her life, guiding her actions and decisions at every turn. Beverly was a firm believer in the idea of “doing one’s best,” a lesson she passionately instilled in her children throughout their lives.
A Multifaceted Career and Family Life
Beverly wore many hats during her lifetime. She embarked on her career as a secretary and administrative assistant, having an early start at Hughes Aircraft. However, her true commitment was to her family. Following the birth of her children, she made the heartfelt decision to dedicate herself to being a full-time mother, a role she embraced with both hands, creating lasting memories for her family.
The Richesson family eventually moved to Huntington Beach in 1965, where Beverly’s impact only grew stronger. She later found her way back to the workforce at Golden West College, where she spent 17 wonderful years supporting the Nursing Program and the Community Services sector. Even after retiring, Beverly remained active in her community and church, focusing on her tennis game and other fun activities.
Community Spirit and Volunteering
In addition to her family life and career, Beverly was a beacon of community spirit. For an impressive ten years, she volunteered at the Gift Shop at OC Memorial Medical Center, with a remarkable attendance record, only missing one day of work! Her commitment to helping others didn’t go unnoticed; she continually engaged with her bible study group and maintained close friendships with neighbors. Beverly’s nurturing qualities extended beyond family and friends to everyone she encountered, always lending a helping hand or a warm smile.
Beverly is survived by her beloved husband, Roger, her sister Gayle Huxtable, and her two brothers, Howard Schmidt and Harold Schmidt (along with his wife, Sandie). She leaves behind her two children, Robin Richesson and Jeff Richesson (who is married to Elizabeth), as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly.
Farewell Service
A heartfelt graveside service was held on Saturday, October 11, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar, California, as friends and family gathered to celebrate her rich life and lasting legacy.
Beverly Richesson’s exceptional life of purpose and service will continue to inspire those who knew her. Her approach to life, founded on love, hospitality, and a persistent belief in doing good, has left a mark on this community that will last for generations. As we reflect on her life, we remember a truly remarkable woman who epitomized the spirit of giving and the warmth of community.
