Windsor Community Mourns the Loss of Beloved Resident Daniel Anthony Emery
Windsor is coming together to remember one of its own, Daniel Anthony Emery, who sadly passed away on September 10, 2025, at the young age of 44. Daniel, who had been battling a brief illness, spent his final moments surrounded by his loving family at Hartford Hospital. His unexpected passing has left a profound impact on those who were lucky enough to know him.
A Local Boy with a Big Heart
Born in Hartford on July 21, 1981, Daniel was the cherished son of Theresa (Troiano) Emery and the late Charles Jeffery Emery. He grew up in Windsor, where he attended local schools and graduated from Windsor High School in 1999. It was during these formative years that Daniel developed a love for basketball, spending many hours on the court. He also enjoyed riding bicycles and motorcycles with his friends and siblings, creating memories that he would hold dear.
Family was incredibly important to Daniel. He looked forward to yearly vacations at their family camp on the Black River in Upstate New York, where the days were filled with fishing, swimming, and quality time spent with relatives. Those moments not only shaped Daniel’s childhood but also instilled in him the values of family and togetherness that he carried throughout his life.
Life’s Journey Takes Him Far and Wide
After high school, Daniel took the brave step of moving to Huntington Beach, California, to live with his brother Paul. There, he worked at an electronics store, experiencing life on the West Coast. However, it wasn’t long before he returned to his roots in Connecticut, settling in West Hartford for several years before finally moving back to Windsor in 2018.
Professionally, Daniel was a talented cook and manager, working at several restaurants in the Hartford area. His culinary skills were well-respected, and he found joy in creating delightful meals for others. Daniel’s generosity didn’t stop at the kitchen; he was known for being a steadfast friend, always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
A Family Man and Friend to All
Daniel had a special bond with his sister’s children, often doting on his niece and nephew. He was particularly fond of a beloved dog named Taia, who sadly passed away in 2015. Those who knew him will recall the warmth he shared and the joy he derived from spending time with his family.
One of the hobbies that brought Daniel much happiness was spending time at the shooting range, where he would practice target shooting alongside his father Charles. They cherished those moments until Charles’s passing in 2020, and the love between father and son remains a cherished memory for the family.
Remembering a Life Well-Lived
Daniel leaves behind a loving family, including his mother, Theresa; three siblings: Paul Emery, Jeffery Emery, and Theresa Hawkins; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lifelong friend Brad Garvin-Nusz also carries with him the cherished memories of their friendship.
For those wishing to pay their respects, a visitation will be held on September 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for September 20 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Bloomfield, followed by a burial at a later date as determined by the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, a cause near and dear to Daniel’s heart. Friends and community members are invited to share their condolences online at www.carmonfuneralhome.com.
The Windsor community has lost a dedicated son, brother, uncle, and friend, but Daniel’s spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
