Orange County Dazzles with Charity at 12th Annual Chef’s Table Gala

In the heart of Orange County, the 12th Annual Chef’s Table: Sip, Savor, and Sounds gala brought together over 400 generous guests, all eager to support families experiencing homelessness. Held on April 6 at the magical Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, this year’s event was a sold-out affair, filled with laughter, exquisite food, and a sense of purpose.

A Night to Remember

Under the expert guidance of Karen Jordan, the development committee chair for the organization’s board, the event was spectacularly organized. The night began with attendees being welcomed by a stunning seaside-inspired décor and delicious signature cocktails, including refreshing seabreezes and tropical mai tais. The ambiance was truly perfect for a night focused on giving back to the community.

Dishing Out Delight

The culinary offerings were crafted by six of Orange County’s most talented chefs, each known for their creativity and dedication to their craft. Guests enjoyed mouth-watering gourmet hors d’oeuvres prepared by:

  • Kevin Meyer from TGIS Catering
  • Rich Mead from Farmhouse at Roger’s Gardens
  • Shachi Mehra from ADYA
  • Peter Petro from Ten Sushi
  • Magellan Moore from Mastro’s Ocean Club
  • David Martin from The Pacific Club

The renowned Disney culinary team, led by Executive Chef Marcel St. Pierre and Executive Pastry Chef Nubia Renteria, prepared a multi-course dinner that dazzled the senses.

Entertainment and Honors

While guests savored their meals, they were treated to a nostalgic performance by none other than The Beach Boys, a delightful touch that transported many back to simpler times. The gala also recognized meaningful contributions to the community; the Shah Family was honored for their dedication in establishing the Shah Happiness Home in 2024. Additionally, actor John Stamos and his wife, Caitlin, were recognized for their volunteerism and generous support towards improving the lives of those in need.

Celebrating Community Efforts

This year’s gala was not just about enjoying a fabulous meal and entertainment; it was also the official unveiling of Illumination Health + Home’s rebranding. The organization reaffirmed its mission to provide housing, healthcare, emotional support, and permanent housing solutions to families in need. With the new guiding pillars of Community, Action, Respect, and Empowerment, the organization is more committed than ever to making a difference.

Community Collaboration Counted

The Chef’s Table gala was one of several community events designed to uplift and support residents in need. Just days before, Cristo Rey Orange County High School made headlines by raising over $2.5 million at their second annual ¡VIVA! Gala. Meanwhile, the Alzheimer’s Association Orange County Chapter successfully held their 3rd Annual InspirationALZ Gala, raising $470,000 for Alzheimer’s support and research.

The community spirit didn’t stop there! Team Depot from The Home Depot dedicated their time to refresh the gardens at Greenville Fundamental School, while Think Together’s second annual Kit Build event produced 1,500 curriculum kits for summer programming, raising $200,000 in the process.

On April 24, OneOC celebrated the invaluable contributions of hundreds of volunteers during the Spirit of Volunteerism Awards, where Illumination Health + Home was recognized with the Innovation Impact Award for its impactful services to homeless individuals and families.

Looking Ahead

As the night came to a close, the excitement and dedication in the room could be felt. The funds raised during the Chef’s Table Gala—an impressive $1.4 million—will go a long way in supporting families facing homelessness in Orange County. Events like these remind us of the importance of community collaboration and how powerful it can be when people come together for a common cause.

As Orange County continues to shine a spotlight on charitable efforts and neighborly support, the future looks bright for those in need and the organizations dedicated to helping them. Here’s to more nights filled with compassion, creativity, and a commitment to making the world a better place.
