The show is an adaptation of a book written by Dean Pitchford, with music also composed by Tom Snow, and has been specifically adapted for the stage by Pitchford in collaboration with Walter Bobbie. It tells the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy who relocates from Chicago to the small town of Bomont with his mother after being abandoned by his father. Upon arriving, Ren finds himself at odds with the town’s strict reverend, who has enforced a ban on dancing in the wake of a local tragedy. The production is directed and choreographed by Nikki Snelson, a Broadway veteran with over 20 years of experience as a director, choreographer, and actress.
